We the Chelsea Earth Day Committee, invite our community to participate in the
Chelsea Earth Day Celebration.
April 26, 2008 10 - 4 at the Depot in downtown Chelsea
and to attend other related activities, such as a Kick-off Party/Dinner the evening before, movies at Cranesbill Books; a Gemini Concert and Matrix Theater Co. at the McKune Library, and a speaker’s series around that date - see our Activities page.Thanks to Chelsea Signs and Chelsea Print and Graphics, we now have flyers to distribute. If you'd like to help out, print some and distribute!
Earth Day is an event that has been celebrated across the globe for over thirty years. We recognize that the Earth is finite and composed of limited natural resources that are all interdependent. We hope this will be an opportunity to celebrate our interconnections and learn more about how we can protect and restore our Earth ecosystem.
The day is designed to appeal to individuals and families by including interactive games and activities that will increase our knowledge of particular themes such as:
- creating sustainable, healthy communities for all ages
- developing alternative energy & transportation models
- providing alternatives to lawns, exploring green cities models
- buying local produce and goods, reading labels, organic options
- reducing consumer habits, learning how to recycle and reuse
- reducing pollution & global warming, checking carbon footprint,
- encouraging fairtrade and ecologically based economies.
Our next meeting is Wed., April 16, 6:30 pm at Cranesbill Books on E. Middle St.
